Metering
This covers everything under Metering on the left side of Utilops. Finding a meter. Adding one. Reading a route with a phone. Typing in a sheet of readings. Making routes. Dealing with a reading that looks wrong. Watching one customer for a leak. And finding out how much water you pump but never bill.
Take the lessons in order the first time. After that, come back to any one when you need a refresher. Inside Utilops, the Show me how button at the top of every page replays the walkthrough for that page.
Start with the two quick start pages
Then the lessons
- Find a meter and see its readings
- Add a new meter
- Read a route with your phone
- Make a reading route
- Deal with a flagged reading
- Watch one customer for a leak
- Put a route read on the calendar
- Run the water loss report
- Undo a mistake
Then check what you learned. Eight questions, about five minutes.
Each page has a blue Show me button. It opens your Utilops and points at each thing to click. You do the step for real, then press Next. One button walks one path. If a page has two, it has two buttons.
If something looks different
Gas meters. If your utility sells gas, a gas meter has three extra boxes on the Add Meter page: Meter reads in, Dial multiplier and Pressure factor. The Water Loss Report has a Gas button and talks about town border meters instead of wells.
Some pages are for managers. Reading Analytics, Route Optimization, Predictive Analysis and Advanced Reports read your data and draw charts. Nothing in them is needed to read meters or bill. AMI Integration is where a smart meter system gets connected, and it is set up once.
Billing lives somewhere else. Readings turn into bills under Billing & Payments. High usage alerts that go to customers are under Billing & Payments too, then Usage Alerts.
Your meter detail page. Clicking a meter number opens that meter's own page. The walkthroughs stop at that click, and the lesson tells you the rest in words.
