Work Orders

This covers everything under Work Orders on the left side of Utilops. Making a work order. Putting it on the calendar. Sending the crew out. Handling a main break. Keeping track of time and parts. Saving the jobs you do over and over. Checking a finished job.

Take the lessons in order the first time. After that, come back to any one when you need a refresher. Inside Utilops, the Show me how button at the top of every page replays the walkthrough for that page.

Start with the quick start page

Then the lessons

  1. Find a work order and update it
  2. Put a job on the calendar
  3. Change who is going
  4. Handle a main break
  5. Keep track of time on a job
  6. Save a job you do often
  7. Check a finished job
  8. Send a message to the field crew
  9. Undo a mistake

Then check what you learned. Eight questions, about five minutes.

Each page has a blue Show me button. It opens your Utilops and points at each thing to click. You do the step for real, then press Next. One button walks one path.

Some pages say Advanced Feature. Schedule & Dispatch, Time & Material Tracking, Work Order Templates, Quality Control, Mobile Field Operations and Route Optimization can each be turned off for your utility. If a page shows a lock and the words Advanced Feature, ask your administrator to turn it on. There is no extra charge.

Work Order History lives somewhere else. The list of every job ever done on a pump, a hydrant or a tank is under Assets, then Work Order History.

Performance Analytics and Workflow Automation are for managers. Nothing in them is needed to do the daily work.

Texts to the crew are included. There is no charge for a message and no limit.

Written in plain words so anyone can follow it. If a step does not match your screen, tell us.
