Settings

This covers everything under Settings, the last line on the left side of Utilops. Your own name, phone and password. Who on your staff can sign in, and what each person may do. Which parts of Utilops your utility uses. Reminders for the office. The alert emails your staff get. Two step sign in.

Most of this is set up once and left alone. Come back when someone joins or leaves, or when you want to change how your office works. Inside Utilops, the Show me how button at the top of every page replays the walkthrough for the page you are on.

Start with the quick start page

Then the lessons

  1. Update your own name and phone number
  2. Change your password
  3. Turn off a login when someone leaves
  4. Reset a coworker's password
  5. Turn a feature off or on
  6. Choose the alert emails your staff get
  7. Require two step sign in
  8. Set a reminder for a coworker or the office
  9. Undo a mistake

Then check what you learned. Seven questions, about five minutes.

Each page has a blue Show me button. It opens your Utilops and points at each thing to click. You do the step for real, then press Next. One button walks one path.

If something looks different

You do not see Settings on the left. Only some roles may open it. Your own name, phone and password are still yours to change. Click your name at the top right and pick your profile.

Every feature is included. There are no extra charges and no levels. An administrator can switch a part of Utilops off if your utility does not use it, and switch it back on any time.

Gas Settings only shows for gas utilities. It holds how gas is billed, the deposit for a new gas customer and the BTU factor. A water only utility never sees it.

Some pages are for administrators. Feature Management, User Management, Security Settings, Notification Rules and Email Settings need an administrator role. Customer Types and Vendor Categories can be read by anyone with Settings, but only an administrator can change them.

Your utility's name, address, phone and office hours live on the last page under Settings. They print on bills and notices. An administrator keeps them current.

Your calendar on your phone is covered under Dashboard and My Calendar, lesson 6.

Written in plain words so anyone can follow it. If a step does not match your screen, tell us.
