Public Website

This covers everything under Public Website on the left side of Utilops. A full website for your utility, with your name and hours, pages about your service, news, the pages the law says you must post, and a pay button that opens your portal. Messages from the website's contact form land in Utilops too.

Take the lessons in order the first time. After that, come back to any one when you need a refresher. Inside Utilops, the Show me how button at the top of every page replays the walkthrough for that page.

Start with the quick start pages

There is no quick start page for this part. If you are new, read 1. Sign in and find your way around first.

Then the lessons

  1. Fill in your website's name, phone and hours
  2. Pick a look for your website
  3. Post news on your website
  4. Add a page to your website
  5. Put the required pages on your website
  6. Answer messages from your website
  7. Go back to an earlier version of your website
  8. Undo a mistake

Then check what you learned. Seven questions, about five minutes.

Each page has a blue Show me button. It opens your Utilops and points at each thing to click. You do the step for real, then press Next. One button walks one path.

If something looks different

The website is turned on from the Payment Portal. On the left, click Payment Portal. On that first page, under What Your Customers See, click Website + Online Payments. Until then, the Public Website pages ask you to set up your portal branding first.

Every page says Powered by Utilops at the bottom. That line is on every utility's website. It does not come off, and there is no plan that removes it.

Your own web address. The Domain Management page here is the same page as Domains under Payment Portal. One address covers both.

You already have a website. Keep it. The Payment Portal Setup & Deployment page gives you a pay button to paste into it. And the required pages can point at pages you already have.

Some pages are hidden until you ask. Pay Bill A/B Test, Site Analytics, Usage Reports, Performance Monitor, Publish Site, Domain Management and SSL Certificates show when an administrator turns on the advanced pages for your login.

Written in plain words so anyone can follow it. If a step does not match your screen, tell us.
